“Two Gates to Africa” is a project of the Pencils for Africa (PFA) student team.
(Click here for the Pencils for Africa website).
Two Gateways to the African Continent
This project explores “two gateways” through which the PFA students can understand Africa:
a. A historic perspective, through the work on African civilization by Henry Louis Gates, Jr.
b. A humanitarian perspective, through the African humanitarian work overseen by Bill Gates.
PFA will study the work of Henry Louis Gates, Jr. (Professor Gates) and Bill Gates (Mr. Gates).
Two Letters from the PFA Editorial Team
At the end of the 2019 school spring term, the Editors of the “Two Gates to Africa” is a project will work together to compose two letters on behalf of the entire Pencils for Africa Editorial Team:
a. A letter to Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr., to thank him for his work, and to let him know what they have learned from watching his PBS television series, “Africa’s Great Civilizations”.
b. A letter to Mr. Bill Gates, to thank him for his work, and to let him know what they have learned from studying the work of “The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation” on the African Continent.
